About Affordable Reliable Moving & Storage

Built Around a Better Moving Experience
Affordable Reliable Moving & Storage was founded in 2015 with the belief that moving customers deserved a higher level of service, communication & accountability.
The company began as a small local delivery operation in Ladera Ranch. As referrals grew and customers began requesting complete household moves, the business expanded into a professional moving company serving residential & commercial clients throughout Southern California.
From the beginning, the company was built by listening closely to customers and understanding what often made moving stressful. Customers wanted movers who arrived when promised, dependable trucks & equipment, professional crews who communicated throughout the day, careful handling of their belongings, and an office team that was responsive & transparent. Those expectations became the foundation of how the company operates.

Every move is approached with careful planning, quality materials & an experienced team. Furniture and belongings are properly protected throughout the moving process, while clear communication helps customers understand what to expect from the initial estimate through moving day.
The goal is not simply to move items from one location to another. It is to reduce the uncertainty that often comes with moving and provide a professional, organized experience customers can trust.

What started as a small delivery service has grown into a team serving residential, office, storage & specialty moving needs throughout Southern California, while staying focused on the same principles that shaped the company from day one: reliability, transparency, communication & care. Derek Zimmer founded Affordable Reliable Moving & Storage in 2015 with a simple goal: raise the standard for what customers should expect from a moving company. Starting at age 19 while working out of a small furniture consignment shop in Ladera Ranch, Derek used his previous moving experience to provide local furniture deliveries while attending school & working full time.

As demand grew from individual deliveries to complete household moves, Derek expanded the business, built a team of full-time moving professionals & developed the company around the qualities customers consistently said mattered most: showing up on time, following through on promises, communicating clearly & treating belongings with care. Today, Derek continues to lead the company with a hands-on approach, using customer feedback to improve service, strengthen the team & guide the continued growth of Affordable Reliable Moving & Storage. His focus remains the same as when the company began: provide dependable service, clear communication & a moving experience customers can feel confident about from start to finish.

I highly recommend AR moving. I had to move furniture from an assisted living location into a public storage facility. This company is the real deal! From the initial contact with Tyler who organized the move and was very communicative and available to answer any questions, to the day of, everything exceeded my expectations. Our crew consisted of Armando, Edwin and John who were all fantastic! They worked so hard solution seeking and navigating our new space (which has a very tight stairwell and is 3 stories) not to mention moving everything out of our old apartment which was also on the 3rd floor (no elevator). They wrapped our furniture and took great care handling all of our boxes and fragile pieces. Seriously, these are some of the hardest working guys I have ever seen and they had a great attitude the whole time! I highly recommend them and will be using them again for my next move. Worth every penny. Thanks again for the 5 star service!

I had an amazing experience with Affordable Reliable Moving and Storage during my recent move in Irvine. From start to finish, the team lived up to their name—affordable, reliable, and truly professional. They showed up on time, handled everything with care, and made what could’ve been a stressful day feel totally under control. The crew was friendly, efficient, and even managed to navigate my oddly shaped furniture through tight corners without a scratch. I was especially impressed by how organized they were—labeling everything, wrapping fragile items, and keeping things moving like a well-oiled machine. If you’re moving in the Irvine area (or anywhere nearby), I can’t recommend them enough. Five stars all the way!

This moving company is the best! I have used a few other moving companies before and this one is excellent. My move couldn't have gone better. From my first call with Lillian I knew I'd be in good hands. She was kind and conscientious and I felt heard and a priority. The system the company has for updates worked well and made me feel comfortable knowing I was on their radar. My movers, Anthony and Jesse, were communicative, on time, efficient and clean. Very nice guys who were were flexible and understanding. It seemed like they really wanted me to be happy. I will need more moving help in the next couple months and I will be calling this company again to help me. I will also be requesting Jesse and Anthony. They did a great job and I highly recommend them. The crew showed up on time, organized and used the time efficiently.
